BAC-PAC Endorses Diane Patrick
January 10, 2014 — Diane Patrick, Republican candidate for State Representative in the 94th District, has received the endorsement of The Texas Association of Business (TAB) Business and Commerce Political Action Committee (BAC-PAC) endorsement for the 2014 election cycle.
Since her election in 2006, Dr. Patrick has established herself as a passionate advocate for helping businesses large and small grow and prosper and she has worked closely with our business community to make sure our state remains attractive to both Fortune 500 companies looking to relocate and local businesses hoping to grow. She understands the smart way to help keep Texans working and our economy growing is with low taxes, less burdensome regulation and a more efficient government. “The only way to keep Texas strong and prosperous is to make our state government more efficient, keep taxes low, help our support our small business community, and I am honored to have earned The Texas Association of Business endorsement”, said Patrick.
Representative Dr. Diane Patrick was first elected to the Texas House in 2006 and quickly established herself as a strong conservative leader. She has been called “Friend of the Taxpayer” by Alliance for Prosperity, “Champion for Free Enterprise” by the Texas Association of Business and a Lone Star Conservative Leader by the Texas Conservative Roundtable. She also received a 100% Scorecard Rating by the Texas Conservative Coalition.
Representative Dr. Diane Patrick’s pro-business voting record during the 2013 Legislative session has helped her maintain her “A” rating by the Texas Association of Business.
The Texas Association of Business is our state’s leading employer organization. Representing companies from the largest multi-national corporations to small businesses in nearly every community of our state, TAB works to improve the Texas business climate and to help make our state’s economy the strongest in the world.
State Representative Dr. Diane Patrick (R-Arlington) announced her candidacy for re-election to the Texas House of Representatives, District 94. Dr. Diane Patrick was first elected in November 2006 in a landslide victory. Since her election, Representative Patrick has served on the House Appropriations and House Public Education Committees as well as the Texas Energy Council. She currently serves as Vice Chair of the prestigious House Higher Education Committee.
Throughout her legislative tenure, Representative Patrick has continued her life’s work as an educator by providing a unique but critical perspective on public education in Texas. She has fought for key initiatives including increasing access to high-quality education, public school finance equity and adequacy and expanding transparency in higher education for students and families as college affordability is increasingly threatened.
Her leadership in the 2013 legislative session was vital to increasing funding for our public schools and reducing the amount of standardized testing in our classrooms – both critical issues for Texas teachers, parents and students.
“Academic excellence is vital to the future of Texas,” said Dr. Patrick. “To grow our economy and attract new business and high-paying jobs, we must do more to ensure we have the best educated workforce. Making sure our schools are appropriately funded and our classrooms are not bogged down with unnecessary testing are important to that goal.”
Dr. Patrick’s reputation for promoting the conservative principles of her district was strengthened this past legislative session as she helped guide through legislation to make government more transparent, provide tax relief for small businesses and make Medicaid more efficient by cracking down on fraud, waste and abuse in the program.
For her work on behalf of Texas families, Dr. Patrick received a 100% rating on the Texas Conservative Coalition Scorecard and recently received the “Lone Star Conservative Leader” Award from the Texas Conservative Roundtable.
A member of the Texas Veterans Caucus, Dr. Patrick has been active in helping Texas military families and veterans. She authored legislation to expand the Texas Armed Services Scholarship Program and worked to protect the Hazlewood Exemption, which provides education benefits to honorably discharged Texas veterans and to eligible dependent children and spouses. Dr. Patrick also is a strong proponent for Proposition One, which with voter approval this November, will provide property tax relief for the spouses of military personnel who died while on active duty.
Dr. Patrick also has been recognized for her dedication by numerous organizations including the Texas Hospital Association Award for “Excellence in Public Service,” the Texas Association of Business “Champion of Free Enterprise,” the Alliance for Prosperity “Friend of Taxpayer” and the Equity Center “Champion of Children.”
Representative Patrick is a former university professor and is married to dentist Dr. Ned Patrick of Arlington. They are parents of two grown children and proud grandparents of six grandchildren.
